Your Interior Design Questions, Answered

Everything you need to know about soft furnishing design, small renovations, and working with Resonance Designs in Northern Taiwan.

Soft Furnishing Design vs. Traditional Interior Design

Q: What is the difference between soft furnishing design and traditional interior design?
A: Traditional interior design in Taiwan typically involves extensive custom carpentry: built-in shelving, cabinetry, TV walls, and other fixed structures. Soft furnishing design achieves a similar visual impact through furniture, textiles, lighting, and accessories. It costs significantly less, can be updated as your taste evolves, and moves with you when you sell and buy a new home.

Do I Need to Rennovate

Q: Do I need to do renovations before working with you?
A: Not necessarily. We assess each home individually. Many clients are surprised by how much can be achieved through soft furnishing alone, without touching the walls or floors. When small renovations would make a meaningful difference, we'll recommend them and can manage the work for you.

3

Cost

Q: How much does it cost to work with Resonance Designs?
A: Every project is different, so we offer an initial consultation to understand your space, needs, and budget. Our furnishings-first approach is significantly more affordable than traditional interior design, and we'll always be transparent about costs before any work begins.

4

Project Length

Q: How long does a typical project take?
A: A soft furnishing project with no construction work can often be completed within a few weeks. Projects that include small renovations typically take 4–8 weeks depending on scope. We'll give you a clear timeline at the start of every project.

5

New Home Design

Q: I just bought a new home. Where do I start?
A: Start with a consultation with our team. We'll visit your space (or review photos and floor plans remotely), discuss your lifestyle and aesthetic preferences, and recommend an approach that fits your budget. There's no obligation and no pressure.

6

My Existing Furniture

Q: Can you work with my existing furniture?
A: Absolutely. Many of our projects involve styling around pieces the client already owns and loves. We'll help you identify what works, what to add, and what might be better replaced or repositioned.

7

Service Area

Q: Do you serve areas outside Yilan, Taipei, and New Taipei City?
A: Our primary service area is Northern Taiwan. If you're outside this area, contact us anyway, we handle some projects remotely and may be able to accommodate depending on your location and project scope.

8

My Existing Furniture

Q: What makes Resonance Designs different from other interior designers in Taiwan?
A: Most interior designers in Taiwan default to expensive custom woodwork that gets left behind when you sell. We take a fundamentally different approach, furnishings and soft design first, small renovations only when they genuinely add value. The result is beautiful spaces at a fraction of the typical cost, with the flexibility to evolve as your life does.
